Eastern Berks Fire crews answers three dispatches for Motor Vehicle Accidents within three and a half hours on Thursday morning July 26
Call #1 at 0552 hours Eastern Berks Fire and Bally Medics were dispatched to an MVA with injuries in the 300 block of the winding, hilly Kulps Rd in Washington Twp. Additional information reported car into tree with entrapment. Chief 97 confirmed Heavy Entrapment. Rescue 97 arrived and went into service with its Hurst tools to pop doors, remove the roof and do a dash push. Patient was extricated in 15 minutes. Kulps Rd was closed for about 3 hours while State Police investigated the accident. In spite of best efforts of rescue workers and medics, we learned later that the patient died at the hospital. (See articles from Mercury or Morning Call.) EBFD units on scene, Rescue 97, Attack 97 and Engine 97. Our prayers go out to the family and friends of the patient.
Call#2: at 0748 hours while the Rescue was committed at the Kulps Rd incident. Co’s 97, Rescue 95 and 525 were dispatched to an MVA Unknown Injuries on Forgedale Rd in Washington Twp. Crews found a vehicle off the roadway up on rocks with no one around the vehicle. Assignment was recalled. 97 units on scene: Brush 97-1 and Attack 97
Call#3 not long after the Rescue returned from the Kulps Rd MVA – at 0917 Hrs Co’s 39, 97, 58 and 505 were dispatched to an MVA with injuries on Seisholtzville Rd Hereford Twp, Rescue 97 was recalled.
