Eastern Berks Fire Department recently mailed its annual Fund Drive letter to area residents. Recently some local households have received phone calls from something called “The Volunteer Firefighters Alliance,” claiming to support “underfunded” volunteer fire fighters. DO NOT FALL for this ploy. We will not phone for a donation, and the letter you receive will clearly state that it is from Eastern Berks Fire Department with return mail addressed to Barto, Pennsylvania. (See 2017 example at left.)
Eastern Berks is 100% volunteer. We are your neighbors, friends and co-workers. Our annual fund drive letter is our major source of funding for our department. Our primary municipalities of Bally, Bechtelsville, District, Pike and Washington do not levy a fire tax, and each municipality makes donations from general revenue as each sees fit.
Other income is generated by the affiliated social clubs in Bally and Bechtelsville, pool fills, and our work at Grandview Speedway where we cover each race for fire and rescue. Additionally, some residents have generously included us in their estate plans. Our Ford F-350 Utility truck was purchased with a bequest from a grateful supporter’s will.
We appreciate any and all donations, which can be made by check or through the paypal link on our website.
Do not be scammed by a paid telemarketer promoting some “volunteer firefighter alliance.” Donate directly to Eastern Berks using the fund drive letter. If you did not receive one, use the contact us form and request to be placed on our mailing list. THANK YOU!
