Tuesday October 17th was a busy night for Eastern Berks Fire as the Borough played host to the annual Lions Bally Halloween Parade and EBFD Fire Police coordinated the traffic flow around the parade using assistance from many local departments – THANKS! The parade started at a new location on 4th St, and the staging came off without a hitch – UNTIL a few minutes before the parade was to begin, fire departments from Boyertown, Gilbertsville and Eastern Berks were dispatched to a structure fire in Boyertown. Apparatus was already filled with personnel and immediately responded. Crews on scene gained control and vented the structure quickly, and apparatus was able to return to the parade. The parade is always great fun. Shortly after the event was over, Eastern Berks, Bally Medics, and Fire Police from 97 and 58 were dispatched to an accident with injuries on Rt 100 in front of Bally Mennonite Church. Rescue 95 was returning from the parade to its station in Boyertown and stopped to render assistance until EBFD arrived two minutes later. Thanks 95! A busy night for all.
