On Monday May 15, Companies 5 (Oley) and 97 (Eastern Berks) held a joint rescue practice at Eastern Berks’ Barto Station. The scenario involved entrapments inside two vehicles, one of which was wedged under a school bus.
Crews were divided into teams with members of each department working with each other on each team. Work involved stabilization, using heavy cribbing and high reach jacks; removal of vehicle parts to allow access to the “patients”; training for junior and new members; and patient extrication and treatment.
Happily all “victims” survived, and it was great working together and once again getting to learn what equipment each department has available.
Tanks you to all who participated and help arrange the drill, including Berks Mont Towing.
