Friday evening May 19, 2017, Eastern berks Fire, along with Boyertown, Gilbertsville, Pennsburg (RIT) and Gilbertsville Ambulance (covering Bally) were dispatched to the 2100 block of Old Route 100 Washington Twp for a Dwelling Fire. Deputy 97 arrived and reported a working fire.
Due to the size and complexity of the building, and the heat, a 2nd alarm was requested. Responding on the 2nd Alarm were selected apparatus from Earl, Hereford East Greenville, New Hanover, and Upper Pottsgrove fire companies.
Crews went into service with multiple lines from Engine 97. Ladder 95 put its main to the roof. Fire was in the basement and running the 1st and 2nd floor walls, but crews made a quick knock when the walls were opened up and stopped it from advancing to the 3rd floor.
In service for two + hours in high heat and humidity. Old Route 100 was closed to traffic by fire police for the duration of the call. Thank you to all who assisted Eastern Berks!
