December 14th at 0155 hours, Eastern Berks and Boyertown Fire, Bally Medics and Pennsburg Fire (RIT) were dispatched for the report of a fully involved shed fire close to a residence on Gehringer Rd in Washington. A tanker from Earl was also added.
County Communications reported to 97 officers that complainants had stated they heard explosions from the fire, which was visible from Bally.
Deputy 97 arrived and confirmed report and told Engine 95 to prepare to lay in from the nearest hydrant, while crews from 97 pulled two lines from Engine 97-1 to attack the fire. Crew did a quick knock on the bulk of the fire, before too much damage could be done to the nearby house.
Units were held to 97 and 95, which were in service for an hour finishing extinguishment, checking for any extension into the home and overhauling the remains and cleaning up.
Fire Police diverted traffic off of Gehringer Rd during the incident.
EBFD units on scene were Engines 97-1 and 97; Tankers 97-1 and 97; Attack 97, and Utility 97.
