9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

 September 11, 2014

On September 11, 2001, 343 New York City firefighters died when the World Trade Towers collapsed. The deaths of these men left many families fatherless and left many survivors wondering why they were spared. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation sponsors 9-11 Memorial Stair Climbs across the country to remember and honor the firefighters who laid down their lives that day. In addition, funds raised by the Stair Climbs go directly to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Participants in Stair Climb events climb the equivalent of 110 stories. Each participant carries a picture of a New York City firefighter who died on September 11, 2001. Completion of the Climb by the participant symbolizes the fallen FDNY firefighter has completed his mission of reaching the top of the World Trade Towers where civilians were waiting to be rescued.
