196) June 3 – 95 and 97 for a brush fire on Englesville Rd in Colebrookdale – part of stand by coverage at Boyertown Fun Days.

194) June 1 – Medic 505 and Eastern Berks Fire were dispatched at 1951 hours for an accident with entrapment in the 300 block of Main St (Rt 100) in Bally. Fire Officers and Medics arrived to confirm an accident with injuries but no entrapment. Chief 97 reported two poles were damaged but power was still on in the area. Fire Police from Eastern Berks and Hereford closed Rt 100 between Second and Seventh for an hour while the patient was cared for, debris cleaned up, and the vehicle towed.

193) June 1 – 95 and 97 for a brush fire along South Reading Ave in Colebrookdale

192) May 31 – 97, 39, and 575 sent for an MVA (unknown injuries) on Huffs Church Rd in District.

191) May 30 – 97 and 525 sent for an ALS Medical on Hill Church Rd in Pike

189) May 29 – 95 and 97 sent for a mulch fire behind the Walmart on Rt 100 in Colebrookdale. Held to Brush 95.

188) May 27 – 97 sent at 2039 hours for an MVA no injuries, Rt 100 and Limekiln Roads in Washington. Medic 525-3 came across the MVA and reported negative injuries, but had fluid and debris down. Fluids and debris were mitigated while Fire Police from 97 and 95 alternated north and south bound traffic around the scene until Gilbertsville Auto Body towed both vehicles. 97 Units on location: Rescue/Engine 97, Engine 97 and Utility 97.

187) May 26 – 97 and 525 for an ALS Medical on Forgedale Rd in District

186) May 25 – Rescue Engine 97 was sent as RIT on a working structure fire at Blommer Chocolates on Blommer Drive in Upper Hanover.

185) May 24 – Eastern Berks Fire and Bally Medics responded at 2:31 pm to an MVA with injuries at Rt 100 and Niantic Rd in Washington Twp – car vs dump truck. On scene for an hour with Rescue Engine 97, Engine 97, Car 97 and Utility 97. Bally PD assisted until PSP arrived, along with Faust Towing.

184) May 22 – 97 was requested by EMS to assist on an ALS Trauma on Back Country Rd in Washington

183) May 22 – 19, 97, and 95 sent for a brush fire along Old State Road in Earl. Deputy 19 held the assignment to 19 units.

182) May 21 – 97 was sent to respond with Montco 38 and others on the report of a structure fire on Peevy Rd in Upper Hanover. Working chicken coop fire.

171) May 10 – 95, and Fire Police from 95, 97, and Montco 79 responded to an MVA with injuries and entrapment, and power lines down at Rt 100 and Bause Rd in Colebrookdale. 95 crews assisted at the scene while Fire Police were ordered to close Rt 100 between New Berlinville and Township Line Rd due to power lines across the roadway, after a pole was sheared. The road was closed for more than two hours while Met-Ed brought equipment to raise the fallen power lines, until the pole could be replaced later in the day.  WFMZ story

141) April 13 – 97, 19, 58, 39, 21, 25, Montco 71, and others sent back to the scene of the previous day’s District Twp brush fire to assist DCNR with mop up and extinguishment of remaining hot spots. DCNR had kept a crew on scene over night monitoring the situation, util area firefighters were to be called back to assist.

140) April 13 – 97 sent at 0008 hours to assist EMS on an ALS Medical on Washington Rd in Washington

139) April 12 – 97, 21, 39, Montco 71, and 575 sent at 2206 for an MVA with Injuries in the 400 block of Huffs Church Rd in District

138) April 12 – 97 and 332 sent at 1549 hours for a ALS Medical on Spring St in Bechtelsville

137) April 12 – Eastern Berks and Seisholtville Fire, along with Bally Medics were dispatched at 1410 hours to Cherry Dr in the Huffs Church section of District Twp for a Brush Fire. EBFD Chief Mike Mutter went responding and was advised that a Firefighter was reporting 3-5 acres already involved, at which point Mutter ordered a 2nd alarm to be transmitted. The chief arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire. Listed below are the numerous departments from Berks, Montgomery and Lehigh Counties which went into service attacking this rapidly spreading fire.
     An Air Drop from a Helicopter was requested by DCNR (PA’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources), The helicopter flew from Hazelton and picking up water from a nearby pond, made 8 drops which helped stop the head of the fire. and cut off its advance over the rocky wooded terrain. Crews continued to work on hot spots and assist the DCNR as needed long past sunset.
     Helping to scope out the extent of the fires was both infrared and visual provided by drones operated by department member Andy Fronheiser.  EBFD units cleared the scene after approx. 8 hrs to go home and rst up, because they had already been told that DCNR were request them to return after daylight to continue to mop of and extinguish fires that continued to burn overnight, under the watch of a DCNR crew which remained on scene. DCNR estimates 22.4 acres were eventually involved.

     Here is a list of the departments which sent personnel and apparatus to assist us. Huge thanks to all these Fire Departments, EMS agencies and DCNR for the assistance. We hope we remembered all of them, if not, our apologies! On scene: Eastern Berks, Seisholtsville, Earl, Hereford, Topton, Exeter, Monarch, Ruscombmanor, Alburtis, Kutztown, Fleetwood, Macungie, Oley, Lyons, Upper Milford, Ringing Hill, Green Lane, Red Hill; as well as EMS from Bally, Boyertown, and Macungie; as well as Canteen 9.
   Special thanks to Red Hill Fire Company for standing by in our Bally station with Squad 71 and Tanker 71. While covering our first alarm area, they also responded for a motorcycle accident in District.

136) April 11 – 19, 95, 97 and 525 were dispatched at 1322 hours to the 1600 block of Philadelphia Ave in Earl for the report of a shed on fire near a house. Asst 19 arrived and reported the fire had spread to two adjacent houses and requested a 2nd Alarm and 5 additional tankers, bring in units from Berks and Montgomery Counties. Before it could be stopped, the fire spread to a third house in the windy conditions. Engine 97 pulled two lines for the attack, while rescue Engine 97 established a tanker fill site on Koch Rd. For this second working fire of the day, EBFD apparatus on scene included Engine 97, Rescue/Engine 97, Tanker 97, Tanker 97-1, Utility 97.

135) Apr 11 – 95, 97, Montco 67 and 525 were dispatched at 0415 hours to the report of a house fire on Ironstone Drive, near Funk Rd in Colebrookdale Twp. Crews arrived to heavy fire and smoke and command was established and additional personnel were requested. EBFD assumed RIT, as well as firefighting operations. Both Tankers supplied water to the scene. Eastern Berks was on scene for four hours until released. EBFD apparatus on scene included: Engine 97, Tanker 97, Tanker 97-1, and Utility 97.

Chief 95 arrived and confirmed the report of a chicken coop and corrected the address to 6th St. Fire knocked after arrival of Engine 95-1, and therefore held to 95 apparatus.

92) Mar 15 – 5, 19, 97, 34, 46, 35, 97 and 565 were sent at 2055 hours for a structure fire on No Name Rd in Pike. Reported to be the building containing an outdoor furnace. Officers arrived and confirmed a fully involved ten by ten outbuilding. Assignment held to 5, 19 and 97.

91) Mar 14 – 97 sent to assist Montco 67 on a Structure Fire and Hazardous Materials Incident at Global Metals on County Line Rd in Douglass Montco. Multiple companies from Montgomery and Berks County were on scene as there was active fire  as well as a Haz Mat. Montco’s Hax Mat team was also on location. EBFD apparatus on scene included: Rescue Engine 97, Engine 97, Tankers 97 & 97-1.

45) Feb 10 – 95, 97, Montco 67 and 525 sent for a fully involved outbuilding fire with extension to brush on Henry Ave in Colebrookdale. Chief 95 arrived and confirmed an earlier report by Deputy 19 that the building had already collapsed onto the ground, and brush fire was no longer spreading. Assignment held to 95 units.

44) Feb 9 – 97 and 505 for an ALS Medical on Chase Circle in Washington

43) Feb 8 – 97 sent for a vehicle fire reported to be near the Pied Piper Diner in Washington. Chief 97 located the fire at Alfredo’s in Bally. Finding the fire had been knocked with an extinguisher, he held all units at station.

42) Feb 5 – Tanker 97-1 was sent at 2113 hours among numerous other units to assist 21 on a working garage fire with exposures on Maple Lane in Longswamp.

41) Feb 5 – 97, 58, and 505 were sent for a brush fire on Turkey Lane in Washington. Chief 97 arrived and reported a 50′ X 50′ area burning not spreading rapidly. Brush 97,97-1 and ATV 97 arrived and went in service with booster lines to knock down and contain the fire. Fire was quickly brought under control and was held to 97 units. EBFD units on scene included Brush 97 & 97-1, ATV 97, Utility 97, and Tankers 97 & 97-1.

40) Feb 4 – 97, 21, 39, 58, 505 and Lehigh 30 (RIT) sent for a possible structure fire on Conrad Rd in District. Reported to be wood stove, with smoke in house and alarms sounding.

39) Feb 2 – Fire Police from 97 and Montco 67 sent at 0648 hours to assist 95 with traffic control around the scene of a multi-vehicle MVA with injuries in the 800 block of N Reading Ave in Colebrookdale.  Utility 97 diverted Rt 100 southbound traffic at Mill, while Traffic 67 diverted north bound traffic at Township Line Rd. In serv ice for one hour.

38) Feb 1 – 97 sent at 2329 hours to assist EMS on Creamery Ln in Bally

37) Feb 1 – Fire Police from 97 and Montco 67 were sent to assist 95 with traffic control for an MVA with injuries at Montgomery and N Reading Aves in Colebrookdale

35) Jan 31 – 95, 97, Montco 67 and 525 sent for a structure fire on Landis Lane in Colebrookdale, reported to be the chimney.

34) Jan 31 – Fire Police from 97, 95, and Montco 67 sent for traffic control around an MVA at Rt 100 and Stauffer Rd in Washington.

33) Jan 31 – Montco 67 and Berks 97 for an AFA on Hoffmansville Rd in Douglass Montco

32) Jan 30 – 95, 97, Montco 67 and 525 sent for a structure fire on N Reading Ave in Boyertown, reported to be the attic. Chief 95 arrived and reported smoke showing, making it a working fire. Among EBFD apparatus on scene were: Engine 97, Rescue Engine 97, Tanker 97 and Brush 97.

31) Jan 28 – 97 and 505 sent at 0040 hours for an MVA on Hill Church Rd in Pike. At dispatch it was reported as unknown injuries but upgraded to with injuries a few minutes later.

30) Jan 25 – Fire Police sent for traffic control around disabled vehicles in the snow on Conrad Rd in District

29) Jan 25 – Fire Police sent for traffic control around disabled vehicles in the snow on Huff’s Church Rd in District. In service for 3 1/2 hours.

28) Jan 23 – 97 and 565 for an ALS Medical on Landis Store Rd in Pike

27) Jan 23 – 97 and 369 for an ALS Medical on Nuss Rd in Washington

26) Jan 23 – 97 was sent at 0028 hours to assist EMS with a BLS Medical on Mountain Mary Rd in Pike.

25) Jan 22 – 97 and 505 were dispatched 1937 hours to the 100 block of Oysterdale Road in District Township for a MVA unknown injuries. Deputy 97 arrived and confirmed 1 vehicle into a utility pole with the pole snapped and nobody around the vehicle. 97 personnel stood by till MetEd arrived. 97 units on scene Engine, Rescue/Engine and Utility 97.

24) Jan 22 – 97 sent to assist Montco 38 for Rescue-Engine 97 for RIT and Engine 97 for additional personnel for a working fire at Blommer Chocolate on Blommer Dr in Upper Hanover.

23) Jan 22 – 97 for an AFA on Spring St in Bechtelsville

13) Jan 12 – Fire Police from 97, 95 and Montco 67 requested by PSP for an MVA on Countyline Rd (at the S curve) south of Weinsteiger Rd in Washington. 505 was later sent for a patient evaluation. Car blocking one lane after being damaged by collision with pole.

12) Jan 12 – 97 sent to assist EMS with an ALS Medical on Main St in Bechtelsville

11) Jan 12 – 97 sent to investigate loud explosion off of Limekiln Rd in Bechtelsville

10) Jan 11 – Capt 97 reported to Berks an MVA involving a school bus and another vehicle at Main and Race in Bechtelsville. Engine 97 was on location. Capt 97 requested fire police for traffic control and later requested EMS (332 was sent) for an evaluation. Fire Police from 95, 19, and 58 were sent to supplement 97, since they were still at the incident in Washington Twp.

9) Jan 11 – 97 and 505 sent for an MVA with Injuries involving a mail truck and a car on Hoffmansville Rd near Audrey Dr in Washington

8) Jan 9 – Fire Police from 95, 97, 49, along with Rescue 95 requested to assist 19 and 5 at an MVA with Injuries, Entrapment and Fire on Rt 73 at Shoemaker Rd in Earl.

7) Jan 7 – 97 requested by 505 to assist with an ALS Medical on Cherry St in Bally.

6) Jan 5 – 97 for an AFA on Chestnut St in Bechtelsville

5) Jan 4 – 97 and 332 for an ALS Medical on Hill Church Rd in Pike

Saturday 5/27/23 @2039 hrs, Co 97 was dispatched for an MVA no injuries, Rt 100 and Limekiln Rds Washington Twp, Medic 525-3 came across the MVA and reported negative injuries, but has fluid and debris down, fluids and debris were mitigated while Gilbertsville Auto Body towed both vehicles.
