On Monday evening March 9th, 85 area fire fighters, emergency medical personnel and police gathered for a MedEvac Flight Safety Course sponsored by Eastern Berks Fire and the Lehigh Valley Health Network.
Participants met at the Goodwill Fire social hall in Bally and were presented information about the flight service and the type of helicopters used in the area.
Midway through the presentation, the first responders took a break to go outside as MedEvac , based in Kutztown, made the short flight over the mountain to the ballfield on Chestnut Street in Bally, adjacent to the fire house.
The pilot and flight nurse, showed how the patient is loaded in the front, rather than the rear, in this model of medical helicopter.
After questions were answered, and personnel practiced loading the litter, participants returned to the hall, for the rest of the presentation.
An informative evening for all.
