Eastern Berks Firefighters spent the evening practicing with their new Dräger Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
These new air packs, used for any kind of hazardous conditions, including, but not limited to smoke, were purchased primarily with a $137,000 federal FEMA grant.
Our current air packs will soon reach their mandatory life limit, and the department was awarded this Assistance to Firefighters grant to replace all packs on all trucks.
Tonight we were at the Bally Community Center (THANK YOU!) in order to practice one final time before the packs are placed into service next week.
Each fire fighter was required to become familiar with the packs, electronics, cylinders, and face pieces.
