Emergency personnel were alerted at 0248 hours in the early morning on Tuesday June 2 for a motor vehicle accident on Route 100 in Bally.
A pick-up truck hit and shattered a utility pole, before the truck overturned on the sidewalk and front steps of a business at Main and Church Streets in the borough. Power throughout the borough was lost briefly after the crash.
Amazingly the driver was not injured. Fire crews applied oil dry to absorb spilled fluids, and assisted in clean up of debris.
Personnel from Eastern Berks Fire, Bally Ambulance, PSP-Reading, and Berks Mont Towing were on the scene for an hour, before the vehicle was removed and the scene turned over to crews from Met-Ed.
